Gruyère Castle
Gruyères Castle is a medieval castle located in the town of Gruyères, Switzerland. It was originally built by the Counts and has been occupied by various families and groups throughout its history, including the Bailiffs of Fribourg and the Bovy and Balland families from Geneva.
In 1938, it was purchased by the Canton of Fribourg and opened to the public, allowing visitors to discover its rich history spanning eight centuries. The castle is situated on top of a hill overlooking the town of Gruyères and the Saane River.
