Trip Itinerary:
We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.
Day 1 (22.07.2023): Arrival Zurich Airport to Toggenburg:
We'll organize a private shuttle that will bring you directly into the Alpstein mountains.
Off the beaten track, this location provides one of the most spectacular mountain sceneries - the Alpstein mountains might be comparatively small, but due to their geological formations, they are even more spectacular. Your hotel will be right in the middle of this idyllic mountain scenery with a cute lake close by and everything surrounded by cow farmers.
The close by lake invites you for a short stroll on your day of arrival.
Day 2: Toggenburg:
Let us dive into this scenery and we'll use one of the smallest and oldest "Gondolas" that exist in Switzerland. From here we'll only hike back to your hotel, all along the sound trail.
The Toggenburg Sound Trail is a very special musical experience. This adventure trail stretches over multiple stages, from Alp Sellamatt to Iltios and as far as Oberdorf, combining all kinds of curiosities with the most beautiful landscapes. A thrilling route for curious nature lovers.
For Lunch, we'll get the modern Gondola up the Chäserugg mountain with its station and restaurant designed by the world-famous architects Herzog & de Meuron.
Optional: Horseback Riding! Let us know if that would be of your interest.
Day 3: Toggenburg → Engadin (guided)
Your guide for the day will meet you at your hotel and take you to the Rhine Valley. You'll stop by in Liechtenstein and the famous Heidiland (a famous swiss movie character) with local handcraft masters and farm animals.
If you would like to do some shopping or equip yourselves for your next days in the mountains, you might want to stop by at the Landquart fashion outlet. From here your guide will leave you - it is a scenic train ride to St. Moritz via Davos.
Day 4: Engadin:
The Engadin Valley is a true nature and outdoor paradise. It was not without reason the birthplace of winter tourism and hosted the Winter Olympics twice. Despite its cosmopolitan atmosphere, it is the culture and tradition of this luxurious Alpine resort that has made it what it is today.
Enjoy a train ride on the UNESCO world heritage Bernina tracks offering breathtaking views on the surrounding peaks, take the cable car to Diavolezza with its impressive glacier panorama, or visit the alpine cheesery Morteratsch. Your kids (and maybe yourself) will be happy to rent a bike and enjoy the ride in the beautiful Val Fex.
Day 5: Engadin → Zermatt:
Today we will add another highlight to your travel memories: The famous Glacier Express train ride. Over its entire length, the Glacier Express leads over 291 bridges and through 91 tunnels over the Swiss Alps.
On your trip from St Moritz, the train winds its way through remote valleys, past sheer rock faces, idyllic mountain villages, over the Landwasser Viaduct, and through the Rhine Gorge, the Grand Canyon of Switzerland.
Enjoy a wonderful day passing through the alps incl. a 3-course on-board menu.
Day 6: Zermatt:
Even though you've been to Zermatt, I believe a return here won't disappoint you as there is still so much to explore!
In the morning: Get ready to climb (hike) your first 4 000m peak - the Breithorn. This tour is a perfect way to get a sense of high Alpine air for the first time, but only for surefooted and experienced hikers accompanied by a mountain guide. In the early morning, you take the cable car to the Matterhorn glacier paradise at 3,883 m from where you can see 38 four-thousand-meter peaks and 14 glaciers.
The climb to the top and the descent afterward lasts about three hours depending on the conditions. After the climb, we recommend visiting the Glacier Palace in the Matterhorn glacier paradise. It is carved into the glacier and displays many ice sculptures and centuries-old ice formations.
In the afternoon: Surrounded by no fewer than 29 peaks above 4,000 meters, such as the majestic Matterhorn and the Dufourspitze as well as the third-longest glacier of the Alps, Gornergrat rewards visitors with unparalleled views.
Day 7: Zermatt to Geneva:
Follow the northern shoreline to Geneva, home of the UN, ICRC, and numerous other NGOs. Stroll through Geneva's Old Town, climb up the tower of the St. Pierre Cathedral and talk a walk along the shores in the English Garden to Geneva's landmark - the Jet d'eau.
CERN - Find out more about the Big Bang! (tours are free of charge, but available only on-site).
Discover the largest particle physics laboratory in the World. There are many options to visit this giant of science. Two permanent exhibitions, guided tours, and a cycle route engage you in the discovery of particle physics.
Day 8: Geneva: Geneva to Paris
The TGV its the best way to travel to Paris. Within 3.5 hours this high-speed train takes you to Paris, the capital of France. It is known for its iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum.
You can also stroll along the Seine River, relax in the Luxembourg Gardens, and explore the charming neighborhoods of Montmartre and Le Marais. The city is also renowned for its art, fashion, and haute cuisine. We'll provide you with our recommendations (even though we're not specialized for France).
Day 9 - 11: Paris
