Day 1: Zurich Airport → Grindelwald
The mountains are calling! But first, we would suggest stopping in Switzerland’s capital to stroll around in Bern's cute Old-Town which is a UNESCO world heritage site; and are you aware that the bear is not only the symbol of the canton? Bears live in the city center in a pit right on the other riverside of the old town (though in winter they are most likely in hibernation, but sometimes they come out anyway).
The Eiger village of Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland lies embedded in a welcoming and green hollow, surrounded by a commanding mountainscape with the Eiger north face and the Wetterhorn. This mountainscape and the numerous lookout points and activities make Grindelwald one of the most popular and cosmopolitan holiday and excursion destinations in Switzerland, and the largest ski resort in the Jungfrau region.
Day 2: Grindelwald:
Jungfraujoch: Icy air sweeps over your face, snow crunches underfoot, and the panorama almost takes your breath away: on one side the view of the Swiss Mittelland towards the Vosges, on the other the Aletsch Glacier, lined with four thousand meter peaks. Standing on the Jungfraujoch 3,454 meters above sea level, you can feel it with your first step: this is a different world. It's one you have to experience.
Day 3 + 4: Grindelwald Ski
The two ski regions of First and Kleine Scheidegg – Männlichen – Wengen offer 160 kilometres of pistes with around 30 lifts reaching up to an altitude of 2500 m. The Schilthorn near Mürren, also part of the Jungfrau region ski arena, even reaches 2971 metres. But the most spectacular piste of the region is without doubt the Lauberhorn piste near Wengen, popularised by the World Cup circus.
For non-skiers: Choose from 80 kilometres of winter walking trails with views across seven four-thousand-metre peaks and majestic glaciers, as well as 60 km of toboggan runs (optional), including, at 15 km, one of the longest toboggan runs in the Alps from the Faulhorn into the valley.
Or visit the neighboring valley of Lauterbrunnen.
Day 5: Grindelwald to Lucerne:
For hands-free traveling we'll organize a luggage express service: Drop off your suitcases at the reception of your hotel, and get them delivered on the same day (between 6 and 11 pm) on the same day!
Optional: Paragliding in Interlaken (CHF 170 per Person)
Fly like a bird through the majestic mountains of the Swiss Alps. After just a few steps, you and your expert pilot will be airborne, gently gliding away from the hillside takeoff and soaring high above Interlaken. After a breathtaking 20-minute flight, touch down gently in the middle of Interlaken. Paragliding is an amazing experience for both young and old.
The ride through the Bernese Oberland is a highlight itself. Following several lakes, especially the blueish Lake Brienz has to be mentioned here. Hop off in Brienz and check out Switzerland's most beautiful street.
Day 6: Lucerne:
Sitting on the foot of the mountain Pilatus, Lucerne is often voted as one of the prettiest cities in the world, featuring a colorful old town and 14th-century city walls, as well as covered bridges including the iconic Kapellbrücke with its 17th-century art.
If you'd like: Head up to Mt. Rigi (cogwheel train included) and enjoy the Rigi Kaltbad Spa (optional) for a relaxing day in their hot pools with a view over the alps and the Lake.
Optional: The Verkehrshaus:
The Swiss Museum of Transport takes a fascinating, interactive look at the development of transport and mobility on road, rail and water, not forgetting air and space travel. On display are more than 3,000 objects, simulators, multimedia shows and interactive exhibits occupying an area some 20,000 m2 in size. A fun excursion for every age!
Day 7: Lucerne:
Welcome to chocolate heaven! In the morning we'll include a 60 min workshop, where the chocolatiers share their knowledge so you can put it into practice. A glance through the atelier window at the mountains and lake will leave you in no doubt about the Swissness of your craftsmanship!
In the afternoon: One more mountain experience: Today is reserved to visit the house mountain Pilatus. Commissioned in 1889, a gradient of up to 48 percent, about 30 minutes travel time: that is the steepest cogwheel railway in the world in figures. Meter by meter it scales the way from Alpnachstad to Pilatus Kulm, passing alpine meadows and striking rock formations.
Day 8: Lucerne → Zurich Airport:
The airport is very well connected from Lucerne which will allow you to maybe get some souvenirs or just enjoy a hot coffee on the shores of the Lake.
We are confident that this itinerary will provide some exclusive memories for you and your family until it is time to say: "Ade, Au revoir, ciao and hope to CYou again in Switzerland"
